Um, I am pretty sure they were all a little buzzed by this point.)īut my very favorite part was when they came out to encore with “Over My Head,” which remains my favorite Fray song, and they threw frisbees out to the crowd to randomly select about 40 people to come up on stage to sing with them. Isaac Slade gave us a rain medley, just him and a guitar, including the ever popular “You Are My Sunshine.” The group came out and played a slow and hilarious version of Shakira’s “My Hips Don’t Lie” with drummer Ben Wysocki doing the part of Wyclef Jean with a bongo drum. Lightening everywhere, thunder rumbling across the plains, and the Fray just kept playing.

When I clapped, I splashed my face with water.īut who the hells cares, it was a BLAST. My glasses were so wet, they had a funky light show of their own going on. My hair was plastered to my face and my jeans stuck to my thighs. I finally gave up on it and just stood there in the pouring rain, dancing and singing my head off. Even our puny umbrella couldn’t keep back the water. I told you it’s the best place on earth to see a concert. Yes, those are the lights of Denver in the background. Growing up here, playing around dinky clubs, struggling, and then hitting it big and playing three nights at the best place on earth to see a concert?Īnd then the sky opens up and typhoons on you. It’s rare for bands to have 2 nights, so my jaw dropped when they had to add a 3rd. And Denver is finally giving The Fray their due – with 3 nights at Red Rocks. With a little help from Grey’s Anatomy, of course. Yes, a band from Denver has finally made it to the bigtime.
